An update that's a bit late...just a bit
My firm's network was attacked by a new virus that no one has seen before. So that's why I got the chance to update this blog. It's been a long while since the last post, 10 months to be exact. Life between work, school, and wedding planning just sucks up a lot of time. Well, we did manage to take several days off and visited San Francisco again. My fiance got her Qi Pao made there. In fact, I think we should call the tailor and see where things are with that dress. Anyways, the plan hasn't changed and we are on track to get married next April despite there are still many items to take care of between now and then.
We did get our engagement photos done though. That was a bit more stressful and weird than I've anticipated. I looked so unnatural (in terms of gestures and positions) in some of them. But I am glad that's behind us. Anyways, to anyone who actually reads this, Happy Be-lated Thanksgiving! May you enjoy the holidays to come!

TV show you should watch
There is this new show being played in China named My Natasha. It was centered around a love story that spanned for more than 40 years. If you are interested in seeing a Chinese show with a non-traditional female lead, this is definitely a must. But be careful, it only has Chinese subtitles. Enjoy!

A long overdue update
It's a little hard to believe that the last post I've made on here was back in July. No worries. Nothing terrible has happened and I have not decided to abandon this. It's just that I am working full time and going to school and things can get really busy. There is something going on every week sometimes I feel like I am reliving my life week after week. I am glad my fiance is patient with me.
Anyways, we got the place nailed down for the wedding, got the photographer, the DJ, and we are definitely working on the remaining items. Since the wedding is not until Spring of 2013, I think we are on track. One of the things we have not yet done is to pick out a dress. That will be done sometime in the Fall of 2012. My fiance wants a Qipao or Qipao style dress. We think Shanghai Tang in NYC would work out. They have really good tailor made Qipao dresses, at least from the website it looked that way, and we are hoping it will fit our budget. So fingers crossed.
Well, I guess this will be the update for now. My brain is pretty empty at the moment and I can't think of anything that I really need to write down. So see you at the next post!

Marriage by Trader Joe's
Yesterday we were shopping at Trader Joe's. It was a normal shopping trip. But when we were checking out, the cashier referred to Lisette as my wife. Well, I guess marriage by Trader Joe's wasn't too bad, right? At least it was free! And finally, someone doesn't just automatically assume we are friends even though she's wearing an engagement ring.
On a more serious note, we went to the zoo to look at wedding facilities. Yes, the zoo! If we have it there, we'll get to be married by the gorillas and pandas. Well, the pandas probably will sleep through the whole thing but the gorillas are definitely active.
So we'll see! So far, it's the better place we've been to as far as wedding venue goes.

Weekend trip
So this weekend I took off with my girlfriend to go to northern AL so we can attend her cousin's wedding. After hours of driving we finally got there. We saw some really ridiculous billboards a long the way (such as "With health care, never vote for democrats), some signs of the damages done by the recent tornado (surprisingly we didn't see too much but I still feel sorry for those who suffered), and no Asians (the town where we had dinner on the first day of the trip I was the only non-white person at Wal-Mart).
So we got to this town in Alabama. It has an Italian name and is right next to a pretty sizable river. Yet, there was not one restaurant or bar next to the river. It was VERY disappointing. We proceeded to the wedding anyways. Well, let's just say I was expecting a cold war between the two families (and within families) and drama. Wasn't I naive? On the way home with my girlfriend, we had some discussion on our future wedding (wish I can play one of those coming soon sounds from movie trailers, but anyways...) One thing for sure, we will make the planning and make all the decisions ourselves. This whole thing of dragging your family into planning or allowing them to get involved is totally a disaster awaiting to happen. At least we know what to expect and what not to do after this.
Also during this trip i got to know my girlfriend's dad a bit more and got to hang out with him at a bar. The man is very talkative and have so many stories to tell. I never felt awkward hanging around with him since I've first met him. There seem to be something we can share across our age and experience difference. What was more was that I know my girlfriend loves to spend time with her dad and it delights to me to see happiness from her face as she hangs out with her old man. All in all, that was the best part of the trip. Too bad I could not get him drunk after 4 scotches. Next time, we should try half of a dozen and video tape it.
Now back to work and await for grad school to start again. So many of my friends have graduated it will feel weired.
